Axe man,
The easy way:
Use a tripod.
Use a 2 sec. delay on the Self-Timer, p. 43.
Set the mode to SCN, use > button to cycle to FIREWORKS. See if this works. Read p.53 (for more info than you may want) the SCN mode may help you.
The hard way:
Page 58: Tv mode. Read it. You can set your exposure time as slow as 15 seconds. Try different speeds to find one you like. I would start at ½ to 2 sec. or so. Count the time it takes for a rocket to reach the bursting point. Streak; one-thousand-one...; burst. ½ second should capture the burst. Two seconds should catch the streak and the burst (maybe). Expect to spend a few shots to find the right shutter speed (ss) for your shot. Don’t forget to factor in the 2 sec. self-timer delay! Try some shots without the 2 sec. self-timer delay, let us know if it works.
Focus may be an issue. Try focusing on a well lit far distant object, if there is one. Use focus lock, p. 65, #2. Also, read about Manual Focus.
